The Carina Ari Foundation Library is the largest dance research library in Northern Europe. It was founded in 1969, and has since grown to comprise more than 9,000 books, 11,000 periodicals, many hundreds of videos, an extensive collection of images and other archive material. The library contains literature covering a wide perspective on dance from all over the world. The collections of early European written sources (pre-1850s), western “modern dance” material, and literature on Russian, Indian and Chinese dance are especially valuable resources.

A database covering the books is currently being established. The intention is that it will be available via the Internet on this website. 

The rapidly growing video collection contains productions of contemporary choreographers, new productions of older dance performances, and documentaries on prominent dancers and dance activities. A well-organised media library, available to the public, is currently being planned. We are now waiting for larger premises for the organisation. 

The Library is open to visitors on Mondays and Thursdays, between 1 p.m.and 4.30 p.m. Visits outside these hours by appointment with the library secretariat.
